CNME Editor Mark Forker was in attendance at the Intel Core Ultra Global Launch, which kicked off this morning in Berlin. Josh Newman, General Manager and Vice President of Product Marketing and Management, Client Computing Group at Intel, described their new Intel Core Ultra 200V Series Processor of having the capability of providing users with an unmatched AI performance.
Newman delivered his keynote presentation to a packed audience of analysts and technology journalists, eagerly awaiting the latest updates from Intel.
Newman declared that their new X86 processor was the most energy efficient ever made, and described the new upgrades as ‘historic’.
“We fundamentally believe that you can’t have a great AI PC, without a great PC. Our Intel Core Ultra 200V Series Processor goes above and beyond are expectations. It runs on 50% lower power, and the fastest CPU Core, and best built-in graphics, and delivers a truly unrivalled and unmatched AI performance. The performance per watt of the X86 processor is truly historic, and the X86 processor is the most efficient processor ever made,” said Newman.
His sentiments were echoed by Robert Hallock, Vice President and General Manager, Client AI and Technical Marketing at Intel, who said that Lunar Lake was ultimately designed to deliver incredible energy efficiency.
He also said the battery myth surrounding Intel processors had been quashed.
Lunar Lake is all about energy efficiency. We have developed a new power delivery architecture that enables better control for enhancing power utilization. We have also made huge reductions in package power, with 50% lower package power than the previous generation, including 32GB memory. The battery life myth has also been busted, as our Intel Core Ultra 200 V Series Processors brings major performance and power improvements in every engine,” said Hallock.
Hallock also signalled its exceptional CPU performance, and said significant improvements had been made in relation to compute efficiency, he also added that Lunar Lake was a ‘powerhouse’ from a productivity perspective.
“Skymont and Lion Cove have enabled incredible improvements in compute efficiency, and the data indicates this clearly. We firmly believe that Lunar Lake is a productivity powerhouse, and again we are fanatical about data, and the data back this up. Lunar Lake definitely takes home the gold medal for everyday home and office use, and it carries the banner for performance in the CPU Core space. In addition to this, Intel ARC is the world’s best built-in GPU,” said Hallock.
Carla Rodríguez, Vice President and General Manager, Client Software Ecosystem Enabling, Client Computing Group at Intel, was next on stage, and she was keen to remind the audience of the rich history, legacy and tradition the US technology behemoth has in building an ‘unmatched’ software ecosystem.
“We have 45 years of experience when it comes to building software ecosystems. Our X86 software ecosystem is an ever-improving layered approach that drives superior compatibility, and only Intel can drive this sort of scale. Software enablement is in our DNA, and we have multiple OSes, hundreds of applications and thousands of developers in our software enablement program,” said Rodríguez.
Rodríguez then highlighted the unique relationship Intel enjoys with Adobe, and said their Core Ultra 200 V Series Processors blow their competition out of the water.
“We are delivering new, more and advanced AI experiences on Lunar Lake. Adobe has been a partner of Intel for decades, and we have enabled some of their most popular solutions such as Photoshop. We have seen that our new processors run their programs 86% quicker than our competition, and in fact, in relation to Adobe After Effects, we have discovered that they don’t even run on our competition, and this only serves to reinforce our standing as a market leader,” said Rodríguez.
Newman concluded an excellent presentation by reiterating the numbers and the data that make the Intel Core Ultra 200 V Series Processors really stand out from the crowd.
“We have seen an 18% increase in our fastest CPU Core, a 30% increase in our fastest built-in GPU, the X86 processor is 50% more energy efficient, we have a historic performance per watt, and we deliver as I stated earlier in my presentation, an unmatched AI performance for our end-users,” concluded Newman.
