TP-LINK Technologies has named Sony Mathew as its new Channel Manager SMB in the UAE.
The latest appointment sees Mathew join TP-LINK from the vendor’s distribution partner Asbis Middle East.
In the new role, Mathew is in-charge of managing the day-to-day SMB channel business for TP-LINK in the UAE. In addition, he is tasked to drive the company’s SMB business in the systems integration space to ensure small businesses are properly served and supported in this segment.
According to the vendor, Mathew’s appointment as the new Channel Manager SMB will help TP-LINK to accelerate the roll out of its SMB strategy in the UAE and ensure that the company grows in this sector like it has done in the SOHO space.
Lucas Jiang, Assistant General Manager, TP-LINK Middle East and Africa (MEA), stated that the company is happy to see Sony Mathew join the team at a crucial time when the company is preparing to launch its SMB partner strategy and a blitz of products, solutions, initiatives, incentives and rebate schemes targeting this vertical.
Jiang said the SMB market is important and it’s precisely for that reason that the company has hired a dedicated channel manager that will oversee the progression of this business by ensuring that TP-LINK engages with the right reseller, solution provider and systems integration partners.
He further explained that in addition to channel partner management in the SMB space, Mathew also has the responsibility of identifying and recruiting new channel partners for the company’s SMB product and solutions portfolio. “Since setting up base in the Middle East and Africa, our business in the SOHO has grown from strength to strength,” he added. “Now as we begin to roll out our SMB strategy, programmes and initiatives, we felt it was important for us to hire a person with the gravitas of Sony. We have not hidden the fact that we harbour ambitions to dominate the SMB networking market in the region. Having Sony take on this role is the beginning of that process we believe will lead us to meeting our goals.”
Mathew said he is humbled and honoured to have been given this opportunity to guide TP-LINK channel partners in the SMB segment. “As TP-LINK is the number one networking brand in the SOHO space worldwide, I will be looking to replicate that success here in the UAE,” he said. “I am excited about the prospects that lie ahead and I look forward to reinforcing TP-LINK to be a force to be reckoned with in the SMB networking segment.”
