Sony recently revealed its next-generation light source and WUXGA installation projector with Laser Light Source Technology at the recent Integrated Systems Europe (ISE) show in Amsterdam.
The product will be, Sony claims, the world’s first 3LCD laser, 4,000-lumens WUXGA projector, which would make it the brightest project of its kind.
Sony claims that the Laser Light Source Projector, as it is known, offers up to 20,000 hours without the need for maintenance, depending on the projector’s environment and set-up conditions. This, Sony says, is in direct response to market feedback that revealed lamp down-time, particularly in the corporate and education sectors, where projectors are often used for long periods of time.
In terms of the brightness, the projector’s Laser Light Source technology incorporates lasers, rather than LED, to achieve its brightness. The white light, like traditional UHP sources, is directed into the 3LCD engine. Sony claims this results in substantially brighter images, better contrast and colour stability.
“This announcement marks an exciting shift in the market,” said Hidenori Taguchi, Head of Marketing, B2B Products, Sony Professional MEA. “Sony’s pioneering technology delivers on the promises made to our key partners to produce continuing innovations that perform and exceed market demands.”
“Installation projectors not only have to reproduce the highest quality image but also be relatively maintenance-free and eco-friendly. The Laser Light Source Projector delivers on all accounts as it is mercury-free with reduced TCO, and the brightest projector of its kind at 4,000 lumens.”
The new projector’s bloodline includes the VPL-FH31 and VPL-FH36 models, which both belong to the highly regarded F series.
