The Dubai Civil Defense, in cooperation with Dubai Future Foundation, has successfully developed the”30-Second Response” project, which aims to accelerate fire response time by 30 seconds in vital areas.
The project is part of Dubai 10X initiative, launched by Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Crown Prince of Dubai and Chairman of the Board of Trustees of the Dubai Foundation for the Future, on the sixth edition of World Government Summit held in February 2018 with the mission to have Dubai achieve today what other cities of the world will achieve in 10 years
Major General Expert Rashid Thani Al Matroushi, Director General of Civil Defense in Dubai, said, “The approved project, ‘30 – Second Response,’ will accelerate the Civil Defense response time to 30 seconds in vital areas. A competent and authorized person will take an effective action through Real-time transmission using technology and devices that send images and data accurately to the operations room administrators”.
He added, “The General Directorate of Civil Defense is responsible for responding to any fire incident as soon as possible. Currently, a response time of 6-8 minutes is achieved for 80% of the total communications according to the best international standards.”
Based on the risk records and dynamic development in Dubai, we are fully aware of the need to enhance the response time significantly to achieve the vision of His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum’s in making Dubai one of the safest cities in the world. Accordingly, we have invested this opportunity to create our own process through “real-time response” at the point of contact.
Major Al Matroushi also highlighted that thhe project aims to reduce the impact of accidents in a comprehensive manner by achieving a “real-time response“within 30 seconds. “The immediate procedural response will efficiently speed up the evacuation process to save more lives. The Fire extinguishing process will operate through the available fire extinguishing systems and safety measures in buildings.”
According to a statement from the Director General of Civil Defense pointed out “the initial response and effective measures represent the first step in the smart response to fires, and it will be coordinated through MGE, the UAE based technology company, to provide a patented (Arc Angel) solution. There is also a unique opportunity to use the Statistical Analysis System (SAS) for data analysis and risk reduction on a predictive basis.
“The timeline for the risk assessment process in the vital areas of Dubai has been reviewed and the first phase will be completed by the end of 2018,” he said.
“Dubai is among the fastest growing cities in the world, the safest and the most technically advanced,” said Al Matroushi. “It provides the physical human and technical infrastructure to ensure safety in the most time effective, cost efficient manner and best practices. This will enhance the reputation of the UAE globally and places it as one of the best countries in the world to address security and safety.”
