Saudi Arabia is hosting its very first Internet of Things exhibition, which is running until 30th January in Riyadh.
Organised by the Kingdom’s Ministry of Communications and Information Technology, the event will feature a panel of visionary leaders, engineers, executives, and developers, will include presentations focused on on cutting-edge technologies in the IoT industry.
The IoT show is in line with the Kingdom’s Vision 2030, which centres on developing the IT sector and supporting creative and innovative thinking to motivate the Saudi youth.
It will also showcase a number of specilised sessions focused in the fields of telecom, healthcare, smart living and transportation among others.
The telecom session will focus on analysis of the current telecommunications industry of the Kingdom.
The healthcare sessions will delve into how IoT technologies can transform industry through redefining how apps, devices, and people interact and communicate.
As for the smart transportation segments, experts will discuss how the latest technologies are going to impact public transport systems in the Kingdom. Furthermore a separate smart city segment will also be highlighted at the show putting the spotlight on how the Saudi government can identify and implement an ecosystem within a smart city, and also the social and societal considerations
Internet of Things is an integral aspect of Saudi’s Vision 2030 initiative, which is led by Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman and centres on three main themes to build a “a vibrant society, a thriving economy and an ambitious nation.
A key part of the vision is to increase private investment and the growth of the private sector, which Saudi Arabia hopes will contribute 65 percent of gross domestic product (GDP) by 2030.
