Saudi airport operator inks new deals to improve services

Dammam Airports Company (DACO) has reportedly signed agreements with Vanderlande and Serco Middle East to improve operations at King Fahd International Airport in Saudi Arabia.

According to the DACO, the two agreements are aimed at improving baggage handling, fire and rescue services.

Turki Abdullah Al-Jawini, CEO, Dammam Airports Company, said, “Our top priority at Dammam Airports Company is to contribute to the development of aviation infrastructure in the kingdom through a series of strategic developments at King Fahd International Airport.

“We are pleased to partner with global leaders like Vanderlande and Serco Middle East to execute our long-term plans for the airport, and transform it into a major hub for air transportation within the region and beyond.”

With the goal of expanding King Fahd International Airport’s operational efficiencies and overall capacity, DACO was established in July 2017.

Vanderlande is a value-added logistic process automation firm focused on airports and the parcel market. The company is also a supplier of process automation solutions for warehouses.

Meanwhile, Serco runs the full spectrum of transport systems from air and sea to road, and with a particular focus on rail. The firm delivers end-to-end solutions, from the design and delivery of new transport systems to turning around underperforming transport services.
