SAP clears the clouds in Spain

German IT giant, SAP AG today announced significant new advances in the core areas of its cloud strategy and cloud platform development as it inaugurated the first day of if it’s SAPPHIRE NOW Conference in Madrid, Spain.

Senior executives from SAP welcomed an audience of over 10,000 people comprising the company’s customers and channel partners from across the globe at the two day conference in Madrid, Spain.

Delivering the executive keynote, Co-CEO, Jim Hagemann Snabe said that the company, had recently completed its acquisition of Crossgate and could now enhance offerings for the SAP cloud portfolio, including the ability for SAP customers to connect electronically with tens of thousands of trading partners and extend a company’s business processes to its community.

“With Crossgate, SAP will provide customers with a 360-degree service if deployed entirely in the cloud. Participation in this business network will eliminate the need for costly point-to-point integration, helping reduce complexity today while enabling cost-effective scalability of the business network for the future,” he said.

In addition to which Snabe also announced that SAP Business ByDesign now has over 700 customers across the globe and to provide mobile access to business processes users can now access mobile apps integrated with SAP Business ByDesign such as sales, management approvals and reporting, and travel expense management via Microsoft Windows 7.5-powered mobile devices.

“Our partners can use the same platform to build mobile- cloud applications integrated with SAP Business ByDesign by using the PaaS capabilities of the SAP ByDesign studio. In time we will increase the breadth of mobile devices supported by SAP Business ByDesign,” Snabe added.

Snabe also pointed out that the company is also working on growing online channel through SAP Store, “Where customers can discover and explore solutions and services from SAP and partners. In many cases, they can also test or download free trials, or purchase solutions. Currently, there are over 100 complimentary solutions for the SAP Business ByDesign solution and mobile apps for SAP Business Suite applications available on the store, with more being added every week,” he said.

According to him the SAP Store is now available on the Apple iTunes Store

Snabe said that in a borderless world where both the competitor and customer are ever closer, cloud computing provides the agility that a business needs to survive. “We understand that the cloud is not just a solution you consumer but a platform to enhance current functionality,” he said.

Snabe concluded by announcing that SAP this year has successfully completed seven years of consistent double digit growth globally. “Over the last 12 months, our software revenues have grown by 32%. We now have over 32000 customers who have used BusinessOne tools to make over 58000 decisions over the last year. In addition to which, the 700 Business ByDesign customers will vouch for the fact that when it comes to SAP, cloud is all about simplicity,” he said.

The SAP SAPPHIRE NOW and TechEd partner conference continue through November 9 and November 10, 2011 at the IFEMA, Feria de Madrid.
