The Swiss cabling vendor Reichle & De-Massari (R&M) predicts the increasing deployment of Fiber to the Home (FTTH) networks in the Middle East, fuelled by the region’s growing trend towards intelligent cities and requirements for faster bandwidth speeds and transmission technology to enable triple play services.
Increasingly sophisticated home and building automation features coupled with the uptake of triple play (voice, video, and data) services requires increasing amounts of bandwidth. Many applications require a pure IP network and bandwidth speeds that cannot be achieved unless deploying a fiber optic network. More robust and secure than copper, fiber and FTTH networks enable data rates ten times greater than the fastest rates achievable to date. R&M forecasts that FTTH networks will be increasingly deployed in Egypt, the UAE, Saudi Arabia, and Qatar over the next five years.
Jean Pierre Labry, Managing Director of R&M Middle East and Africa commented by saying, “A high performance fiber network will be the key infrastructure in the future. Only a robust FTTH infrastructure can offer the speed, security and transmission quality needed to accommodate future bandwidth requirements for triple play in the Middle East.”
“R&M anticipates that FTTH networks will be increasingly deployed and become the standard network infrastructure. Already we are seeing investment by regional network operators and real estate developers into FTTH networks. R&M’s innovative FTTH product range is the optimum solution for applications enabling convenient high speed use for voice, video, data, remote monitoring, and home and building automation,” added Labry.
In the Middle East, R&M has succeeded in deploying a number of FTTH networks, enabling operators and real estate developers to build up a network quickly and cost effectively in compounds, buildings, and houses. Its extensive FTTH product portfolio encompasses quality, security, and flexibility. As one of the first companies to offer flexible customized solutions, R&M also maintains dedicated local support teams to handle customization prior to implementation.
The Swiss structured cabling specialist recognized the trend toward fiber optics years ago, and positioned itself as a market leader by significantly investing in research and development in the field. As a result, fiber optic products now account for one-third of consolidated sales.
“R&M has emerged as the foremost supplier of FTTH network solutions in the Middle East and Africa, particularly in the UAE, Saudi Arabia and Egypt. Our flexibility in terms of customizing solutions, renowned Swiss quality, as well as future proof FTTx portfolio is certainly integral to our success,” concluded Labry.
