Abu Dhabi Education Council (ADEC) selected Alpha Data, one of the UAE’s leading systems integrators, to deploy nearly a thousand HP computers across 20 government schools in Al Ain as part of ADEC’s technology for schools initiative. The delivery and installation were completed in September in time for the new school year. This project is part of a wider initiative of ADEC to provide government schools with comprehensive technology facilities.
HE Dr. Mugheer Khamis Al Khaili, Director General of ADEC, believes using technology is a vital part of the school curriculum. “Our goal is to provide and upgrade technical and material assistance to schools throughout the Emirate of Abu Dhabi,” he said. “If we want our students to compete globally we have to make sure they have access to the latest technology.”
Salem Al Khatheeri, Al Ain Zone Director, was very pleased with the initiative. “The computers installed will help bring significant educational benefits to Emirati students across elementary and secondary schooling levels in Al Ain,” he says.
On selecting Alpha Data, Mohammed Younes, Manager of IT at ADEC, adds, “We worked with Alpha Data previously and were satisfied with their commitment to making sure projects are completed on time and within budget. We were therefore happy to work them again for this project.”
ADEC’s overall requirements included pre-installed programs like Windows Vista, MS Office, Encarta – Full installation, Mejah 1- 9 (IT concepts for Grades 1-9), so that students as young as first graders can begin studying computer basics.
“We are extremely proud to have been chosen by ADEC to carry out a complete desktop deployment for such a major project given that this involved almost a thousand PCs deployed in different locations,” said Ghassan Tuhul, Enterprise Computing Division Manager at Alpha Data. “We have a great deal of experience with projects such as these across the education sector in the UAE and we were able to deliver this project within the time frames given by ADEC.”
