Tahawul Tech was on set at Zayed Sports Stadium in Abu Dhabi yesterday to shoot footage for its upcoming short featuring Real Madrid legend Michel Salgado on behalf of Alibaba Cloud.
The filming with Salgado preceded Real’s 2-1 semi-final win over UAE-based Al Jazira in the FIFA Club World Cup 2017, of which Alibaba Cloud is presenting partner.
Veteran right-back Salgado spent 10 years of his playing career in the Spanish capital with the Bernabeu club, winning the UEFA Champions League in 2000 and 2002, as well as collecting 53 caps for Spain.
Now more than ever, technology is beginning to transform the beautiful game, with real-time analytics putting data at the fingertips of coaches across the world.
Salgado said, “As someone who has been lucky enough to play football at the highest level, I know just what it means to be involved with the world’s most important contests.
“I’m so excited that Alibaba Cloud is here to support the greatest competition in club football – the FIFA Club World Cup.”
Alibaba Cloud’s mobile roadshow stand, situated in the fan village of Zayed Sports Stadium – which will also be there for the Club World Cup Final on Saturday 16th December – features a trio of exciting challenges for football fans of all ages.
Tests for shot precision and power enable aspiring players to measure their ability to hit tight shooting targets, while the shot power test pushes contenders to ‘break the net’.
The speed test is a short sprint over five yards, which is a test of football-related athleticism. All three tests give real-time results via the use of Alibaba Cloud technology.
Alibaba Cloud is one of the first public cloud service providers from outside the UAE to have established a data centre in the country, and is today celebrating its one-year anniversary in the Middle East.
The firm already has clients including Mashreq and Dubai Parks and Resorts.
