Al Razihi Group (RoboTami) Education division and International Islamic University Islamabad (IIUI) have penned an MoU of collaboration for integrating robotics in IIUI Schools across Islamic Republic of Pakistan.
The MoU has been signed between Institute of Professional Development (IPD) of IIUI and RoboTami of Al Razihi group. IIUI Rector Dr. Masoom Yasinzai and Khaled Al Aswadi, head RoboTami MEA have signed the agreement at Faisal Masjid campus.
The university is considering including robotics in the schools’ curriculum as part of this collaboration. Earlier in the year, both IPD and RoboTami have organised a seminar, where more than 200 teachers were trained for use of robotics in comprehensive education in IIUI schools. International speakers from South Korea, UAE, New Zealand, Philippines participated in the day-long event. 500 delegates from Pakistan participated in the seminar along with members from Faculty of Engineering and Technology (FET) and Faculty of Basic and Applied Sciences (FBAS) and students.
The university’s Rector Yasinzai said, “We have to review our educational system and we must add the attribute of critical thinking in it. We lack encouragement of curiosity and learning new things. Children must be introduced to advancements from basic level.” He also welcomed the agreement and termed it as a good omen to step forward in critical thinking and learning new technologies right from school level.
Al Aswadi presented a memento of two LABs to IIUI Rector and said the firm is keen to introduce new trends that will improve education of children.
Dr. Saeed ul Hasan Chishti, director IPD, IIUI Schools, said, “For the first time in Pakistan, robotics is being included in the curriculum of IIUI Schools from the next session onwards.”
Al Razihi Group RoboTami aims to expand to the entire country in 2018 by organising awareness campaigns. Furthermore, Al Razihi has also announced robotic teachers training plan with the creative convergence of science, technology, engineering, art and mathematics.
