Google will supposedly be launching a new model of its Nexus 7 tablet with 3G mobile connectivity, according to Modaco.
Apparently the Nexus 7 3G is coming this year and will be identical to the current Nexus 7 tablet but with an additional chip for mobile broadband access.
Asus, the firm which partnered with Google to make the Android 4.1 Jelly Bean tablet is apparently ramping up production for a launch in about six weeks’ time. This would place the release in mid-October but exact launch dates and territories are still to be confirmed.
The Nexus 7 is an excellent but the lack of 3G was mentioned in many a review, including ours, and by owners. So, it would certainly get the approval of many if the Nexus 7 3G does eventually tip up.
We hope it does, but for now we’ll have to trust the information from a ‘very well placed insider’. In the meantime, it is suggested that Apple will launch a rival iPad Mini on 12 September along with the iPhone 5.
