Equinix highlights their approach to multicloud networking during Data Center Tour

CNME Editor Mark Forker was in attendance at an exclusive Equinix Data Center Tour, which was held at the DX3, Equinix Data Center in Dubai Production City, on May 29th, in an effort to learn more about how its unique strategic approach to mutlicloud networking is empowering enterprises with the flexibility, agility and scalability it needs when it comes to their cloud operations.

Equinix is one of the world’s leading players when it comes to digital infrastructure.

With over 10,000 customers worldwide, and 260 of those being Fortune500 companies, Equinix has earned a reputation for having one of the world’s most expansive, secure and sustainable data center platforms.

We know that cloud is the future.

However, we also know that many enterprises across the Middle East have struggled to grapple with the demands of cloud transformation.

Many businesses have encountered hurdles when it comes to data integration, have been exposed to heightened security risks, and have been hit with excessive and unpredictable costs.

At the private and exclusive Equinix Data Center tour, attendees were provided a whistle-stop tour of the data center in a bid to better understand how Equinix is building cloud experiences that is delivering healthier returns for its customers.

In the current digital economy, we increasingly hear about the need for agility and scalability and that is an area where Equinix excels.

Multicloud networking is undoubtedly complex, but Equinix offers creative solutions to help organizations tackle it strategically.

One thing that has become abundantly clear in the past few years is the need for flexibility and choice around how you design your multicloud network.

The complexity and demands of multicloud networking require problem solving and innovative approaches—and during the data center tour we heard how Equinix has been doing just that.

Equinix has invested in delivering creative solutions to the requirements of multicloud connectivity – and their executives during the tour conceded that they can’t make the complexity of multicloud networking disappear, but there are lots of creative ways to solve it by using the building blocks available on their Platform Equinix®.

In addition to this, during the tour Equinix executives highlighted how the provide a wide variety of cloud-to-cloud networking scenarios for all public and hybrid cloud environments, providing the right option for the current and future needs of businesses.

Equinix delivers the performance and control delivered by physical routing, the adaptability and cloud-like experience delivered by virtual routing, and the ability to extend either one with on-demand security functions and access to their vibrant ecosystem of service providers and partners.

Equinix has continued to evolve to deliver the tools and capabilities that allows businesses to implement robust cloud-to-cloud networking capabilities that can be highly tailored to your requirements:

Some of these include:

  • Deploying virtual network functions (VNFs) like SD-WAN devices, routers, firewalls and load balancers from leading vendors on demand using Equinix Network Edge.
  • Using their new virtual routing capability—Fabric Cloud Router—within Equinix Fabric® for essential cloud-to-cloud routing.
  • Equinix Fabric can be used as a virtual metro-based switching platform if you want to build multicloud diversity with two physical locations in a metro.
  • With Equinix Fabric, you can also build a virtual connection to transparently carry MACsec traffic from port to port, to deliver a highly secure front and back end.
  • And Equinix Precision Time™ can help you unify timing on your systems of record and transaction processing.

This more flexible approach that is being offered by Equinix is quite different from what’s available in the clouds, and won’t lock you in to a single cloud vendor.

In conclusion, with Equinix, you get a new level of agility since enterprises not only have options for what kind of networking they want to choose; but they can also deploy infrastructure solutions faster and make changes dynamically.
