Comguard, a Dubai based value added distributor of IT security products and solutions in the Middle East and North Africa region, today announced that it has entered into a distribution agreement with Delphix, an agile data management software solution provider.
The new agreement enables Comguard to distribute Delphix products and solutions across the Middle East region, including UAE, Qatar, Saudi Arabia, Egypt, and Kuwait among others.
According to a study conducted by the Enterprise Strategy Group, managing data growth and database size is the number one data management challenge for enterprises, with 51% of enterprises indicating that managing increases in database storage requirements is their top database application infrastructure challenge.
Jayadevan K, senior VP, Value Business at Comguard, said, “The biggest challenge today is controlling the explosion of data growth. Delphix redefines virtualisation for enterprises through the creation of a new virtualisation layer for data. Comguard in association with Delphix will provide enterprises in the region a comprehensive database virtualisation that can cut the cost of data management by 90%.”
By virtualising the data within enterprise databases, Delphix increases agility in database-driven application development and transforms the economics of database and application management, the company said. Delphix reduces database storage costs and dramatically increases application team productivity, improving the returns on database investments and application time to market, representatives added.
According to the company, unlike server virtualisation products, Delphix eliminates the storage expansion driven by production databases and the seven to ten supporting copies created in most organisations, relieving budget pressures driven by big data. “Ten copies of a 30 TB data warehouse would result in 300 TB of storage consumption on physical infrastructure but as little as 20 TB on Delphix,” sources said. As relational databases incorporate Big Data components like MapReduce into their engines, more and more of the Big Data footprint will fall into relational databases, data warehouses, and their supporting copies, Delphix expects.
Jamie Stone, regional director, EMEA, Delphix, said, “We are glad to join hands with Comguard and are sure that with region-wide reach and understanding of technology, Delphix will be able to carve out a niche for itself in this region by providing the most effective solution to enterprises in the region which will help them to increase their productivity as well as reduce their database storage costs.”
