BCS, the Chartered Institute for IT, has named Bob Harvey as its new president at its AGM.
In addition, Roger Marshall has been appointed deputy president of the Institute.
Harvey, who was deputy president last year, takes over from Professor Jim Norton, who was BCS president in 2011.
“My theme will be Membership 2020 and I will be focusing on ensuring that as the Chartered Institute for IT, we continue to develop professionalism in IT and provide a vibrant professional body for members of the profession to work more closely together,” said Harvey.
As well as his role as deputy president, Harvey was the chair of the Institute’s Ethics Group, and was most recently director of information services at the children’s charity Barnado’s.
Meanwhile, new deputy president Marshall is a member of various boards including BCS Products and Services, Socitm’s Membership Board and the Government IT Profession Board.
