Avaya buys audio-collaboration vendor

The $15 million deal brings Avaya Konftel's OmniSound technology that optimizes the audio in collaboration sessions.

OmniSound conference phones have omni-directional microphones and can be fitted with expansion microphones to extend range. They have multiple speakers for high-quality sound and filter out background noise. They also include equalizers to adjust sound levels during meetings.

The Konftel gear ranges from desktop units to equipment for auditoriums being used for collaborative meetings, Avaya says.

Avaya says it plans to integrate Konftel technology into Avaya's audio, video and collaboration platform called Avaya Flare Experience. Konftel's products and technology are “key elements” for Avaya's communications road map, says Alan Baratz, Avaya's senior vice president and president of global communications solutions.

Konftel is considered a wholly owned subsidiary of Avaya.
