Veronica Martin caught up with Chris Hill, Regional Vice President, Public Cloud & Strategic Partners International at Barracuda to discuss GITEX 2022 and the company’s plans for the region.
Can you tell our readers about some of the solutions and partnerships during GITEX this year?
We have a range of solutions, such as email & data protection, XDR, and UMS trust which are a big focus for us.
We have added zero trust into our email protection products, simply because hackers are getting a lot more sophisticated nowadays. If hackers get your username and password, you need a way to combat those kinds of threats and that’s why we have introduced zero trust.
In the last 12 months, how has your company performed in the MENA market? Has your company ventured into any new markets/countries, and can you share your overall growth?
MENA is one of our highest performing regions actually and we’re investing a lot in the local team, in technology and taking advice from the local teams as we’re adapting our products. We have a data centre based in the UAE and we are planning to expand. We see the importance of having data stored locally and using partnerships such as Microsoft and AWS to help us achieve our business’ goals.
Which technologies and IT trends are the forefront of driving innovation for your business?
We constantly keep innovating our products and we keep them simple, as we have seen some of the products created get lots of features and then, because of the skills shortage in IT, they don’t end up being deployed or configured correctly.
We also acquired a company last year to manage XDR, as it’s a key platform to help customers and partners to manage their environments and the threats out there.
Can you tell our readers what differentiates your company from your market rivals?
Our most unique differentiator is simplicity and the amazing feedback we always get from our channel partners and end users. Our customers really love the simplicity of our products and our data protection products in the first half of the year experienced a 70% growth. We’ve also become first in lots of the rules created for backups and security.
