Kuwait plans to build its first techno-complex to develop its industrial capacity, according to a recent report by the Kuwait News Agency.
Director-General for the General Authority for Industry (PAI) Abdul Karim Taqi made the announcement during the sidelines of the 47th Session of the United Nations Industrial Development Board (UNIDO).
According to Taqi, consultancy studies for the components, sections and management of the complex, to be built on an area of 200,000 square meters, would be completed before the end of this year.
Taqi further explained that local and international expertise will be used to execute the project as well as benefit from the experience of (UNIDO) in this field.
The venture will reportedly contribute to industrial and technical research and innovation, especially in the petrochemical, renewable energy and water resources sectors, according to KUNA.
It will provide training and rehabilitation centres for the industrial sector, in addition to some parts of the complex that will be allocated to small and medium-sized enterprises.
The meetings were held with participation of experts from United Nations Industrial Development Organisation (UNIDO) member countries, beside representatives of international and civil society organisations and media.
