The Emirates Institute for Banking and Financial Studies (EIBFS) has selected SunGard Higher Education, a global provider of higher education software and technology services, to support its mission of providing quality education and training to the region’s banking and financial services sectors.
SunGard Higher Education PowerCAMPUS will be deployed to help EIBFS automate business processes, improve services to students and trainees, and enhance institutional reporting, the company said. Built on advanced Microsoft technologies, PowerCAMPUS is a complete Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) solution designed to help small and mid-sized educational institutions meet growing demands for improved accountability, performance and productivity, representatives of the company added.
“EIBFS has a clear mission to help create a talented pool of UAE nationals capable of pursuing successful careers in the banking and financial sector. To meet this objective, we plan to develop and deliver quality tools and solutions that will prepare our constituents for personal and business success. We are delighted to have the support of SunGard Higher Education because of their experience in supporting institutions around the world deliver on their strategic objectives,” said Jamal Al Jassmi, GM, EIBFS.
The project, which will be implemented in three phases, will augment EIBFS’ overall capability to handle and process data efficiently. The first phase of the implementation will help automate recruitment and admissions processes, as well as facilitate tracking of prospective students and applicants. According to SunGard, it will also help simplify the registration procedure through the use of block registration functionality that will enable EIBFS to register multiple students in their specific courses with ease. Additionally, it will help EIBFS to track student payments and academic performance.
According to representatives, the second phase will extend the institution’s ability to communicate and collaborate with its constituents instantaneously, by creating a community where students, staff and faculty can access and share information. This phase will also help broaden EIBFS’ ability to perform online recruitment and admissions with minimal effort.
The third and final phase of the project will enhance EIBFS’ ability to obtain advanced reports from a single comprehensive source and provide access to institutional performance indicators, SunGard said.
Mathew Boice, VP, EMEA and India, SunGard Higher Education, said, “The economic prosperity of Dubai, and indeed the UAE, has been built in part on a vibrant financial services sector. EIBFS plays an integral part of the continued development of this sector by helping to nurture and upgrade knowledge. SunGard Higher Education is committed to supporting EIBFS and this drive for a knowledge economy.”
