Ajman’s Municipality and Planning Department and the Emirates Integrated Telecommunications Company (du) have recently teamed-up to turn the emirate’s Rumaila District into a smart and sustainable residential area.
The two bodies signed a Memorandum of Understanding to work jointly for the implementation of the, ‘Smart Rumaila District Project’ in line with the urban planning policies and the city’s comprehensive master plan that have been adopted by the Ajman Government, WAM reported.
Abdulrahman Mohamed Al Nuaimi, MPD Director-General, and Jihad Tayara, Vice President Business Development and Partnerships – New Business and Innovation at du, signed the agreement.
Under the partnership, du will design, build and operate smart systems in selected buildings on Omar bin Al Khattab Road using the most up-to-date methods for building management, renewable energy, energy saving and the highest standards of safety and well-being for both residents and visitors.
This also include sustainable and smart systems for telecommunications, street lighting, waste management and car parking areas.
Both parties also agreed to coordinate with some of their strategic partners and stakeholders with the ultimate objective of preparing a one integrated development plan with clear-cut and time-bound programmes and goals for the project.
The Rumaila neigbourhood is located in the middle of old Ajman city, overlooking Ajman Cornish, and surrounded by Al Rifa’ah, Al Nakhil, Al Rashidiya and Al Mirgab districts.
