Emirates Computers are organising a storage event in collaboration with Symantec. The event themed ‘stop buying storage’, being held at the Royal Meridian in Abu Dhabi on the 1st of July, will have senior IT managers, CIOs and other key IT decision makers from different industry sectors of the UAE in attendance.
The event will highlight the message of prioritising storage consolidation and the need to optimise the usage of already deployed storage capacities in enterprise environments. This is in line with expectations of customers trying to optimise their IT spending in the light of the slowdown.
A senior spokesperson from Emirates Computers, Symantec’s silver partner, will be a keynote speaker at the event giving insights into the trends in storage and backup consolidation in the region.
As more and more IT organizations encounter severe budget restrictions, many are looking for new ways to get quick savings. Storage is a constantly growing component of IT budgets, with many Global 2000 companies budgeting tens of millions of dollars for storage hardware capacity upgrades in the coming year. However, industry data indicates that organizations are grossly under-utilizing their existing storage assets, with average utilization at just 35 to 40 percent. If these organizations can better use the assets they already own, they can delay extra storage purchases.
Speaking on their participation, Hayden Sadler, Manager – Computing Platforms Technical Sales Support at Emirates Computers says, “This is a very relevant topic in the current scenario, especially because CIOs have to do with shrinking IT budgets. Storage consolidation has become a necissity within IT networks today as there are massive capacities lying underutilized. Emirates Computers delivers solutions from Symantec that help our customers help optimise their storage needs without having to spend excessively on storage hardware upgrades.”
Symantec’s software-led, hardware-neutral approach helps customers better use their storage hardware. When they utilize their hardware to the optimum level, organizations can then purchase only the storage they need, when they need it. They can also then take advantage of 40% year/year hardware price declines. Symantec is uniquely positioned to help organizations significantly reduce or eliminate storage purchases in the near-term.
“Symantec is a leader in information management solutions. Being their silver partner, we can deliver end to end solutions for customers looking to secure and manage their data, which is what we wish to highlight at the event.”added Mr Sadler.
The event will also be a showcase of technologies from Symantec and its partners. Key spokespeople from Emirates Computers will be at hand to respond to queries from attending delegates.
