Cyberoam and Sophos are coming together for the first time to provide end-to-end solutions for both firm’s many customers. The acquisition, announced early this year, expands and deepens Sophos’ already significant product portfolio in network security, by combining Cyberoam’s Unified Threat Management (UTM), next-generation firewall and network security expertise with Sophos’ existing award-winning network security solutions in UTM and wireless security. Harish Chib, Vice President, Middle-East and Africa, sees GITEX as the perfect opportunity to debut the fruits of the new relationship. “We have been coming to GITEX for ten years now,” says Chib, “and the crowd has changed a bit. It is much more B2B here now, which is perfect for us.” According to IDC Research, the network security market reached $7.9 billion in 2012; UTM comprised $2.7 billion of the market and was cited as the fastest growing segment at 21 percent growth. In the recent Gartner Magic Quadrant for Unified Threat Management, Sophos was again named a “Leader” and Cyberoam a “Visionary.” “What makes us different,” says Chib, “is that now we can provide end-to-end solutions for our customers. People want solutions to be simple now, and with this partnership, our customers can get just that.”
The transition places Sophos and Cyberroam in an ideal position to succeed in what has proven to be a dynamic and fast growing network security market. With the acquisition, the company hopes to accelerate their network security vision by leveraging more resources for product innovation, more sales and partner reach and a higher profile as a disruptive leader in the industry. As for their roadmap, “Training will be completed in the next six months,” says Chib, “we have work ahead of us, be we are excited for GITEX next year.”
