kim hammonds deutsche bankDeutsche Bank has appointed Kim Hammonds as chief information officer (CIO) and global co-head of group technology and operations (GTO).

She is taking over from Anthony McCarthy, who is leaving the bank “to pursue other career opportunities”, the bank said. He will step down on 15 November, but will be available to advise the bank during a transitional period.

Hammonds will join Deutsche Bank on 25 November, from aircraft manufacturer Boeing, where she was also CIO.

With a background in mechanical engineering, Hammond had previous roles at Dell and Ford Motor Company.

Henry Ritchotte, chief operating officer at Deutsche Bank, said: “Kim has an excellent track record in transforming business performance through technology and efficiency. This will prove invaluable as we continue to execute Strategy 2015+.”

Hammonds will report to Ritchotte and work alongside Jim Turley, who remains global co-head of GTO. She will be based in London.

Earlier this year, Deutsche Bank revealed that it was struggling to find a way to unravel data from legacy systems to allow integration with newly-created big data systems based on Hadoop technology.
