Ericsson, the technology and telecoms company, has announced plans to expand its research and development facility in Ireland by creating 100 software engineering jobs.
The jobs, which will be based in Athlone, Ireland, will focus in the area of intelligent network management.
“With the drive to improve the quality and diversity of mobile broadband services such as IP-TV and smartphone application and so on, we are growing our skill base in the intelligent Network Management area to enable our customers to provide a better end-user experience,” said Michael Gallagher, Ericsson’s MD in Ireland.
Regional development agency IDA Ireland will be supporting the new jobs with an undisclosed amount of funding.
Ericsson currently employs more than 1,400 people at the Athlone facility
