As several open source based virtualisation solutions have become more and more mature, Halon Security has released its anti- spam gateway Virtual Spam Prevention for KVM and other open source based virtualisation solutions.
As the problem with email-based attacks on corporations, governments and their customers and users are steadily increasing, the need for a solution that can make sure that keep the attacks of malware, spam and zombies out while keeping the email server up and running has increased tenfold in the last twelve months, says the company. At the same time, with the spectre of another downturn looming large this might not be the best time for a CIO or a systems administrator to invest heavily in a virtualisation platform. With that in mind, Halon Security has set out to re-package its anti spam gateway Virtual Spam Prevention (VSP) to support a range of free and/or open source based virtualisation solutions.
” There are preferences, and there are actual need, and these two aren’t always able to meet half way. With the availability of VSP for open source based virtualisation platforms, we are able to get customers up and running faster with VSP and at the same time provide their users and customers with a safer and more productive email experience,” says Peter Falck, President of Halon Security.
The new packaging of the Virtual Spam Prevention (VSP) is available in a raw format. This means that users of such open source based virtualization platforms such as KVM or Oracle’s VirtualBox now can install and use the Virtual Spam Prevention without having to resort to converting the installation files from other formats. The Virtual Spam Prevention is a anti spam gateway running in virtualised environments such as VMware vSphere, Citrix Xen Server and open source based virtualisation platforms such as KVM. A fully working 30 day evaluation version is available for download from the Halon Security website. Halon Security also offers an hardware appliance version, the Spam Prevention Gateway (SPG).
