D-Link Middle East & Africa has announced the launch of a media router ideal for streaming high definition (HD) online content. The D-Link DIR-657 HD Media Router 1000 is capable of transmitting multiple media types, such as high-definition video and music, to several devices simultaneously. The HD Media Router 1000 offers excellent wireless performance with maximum speed and coverage suitable for online gaming at blazing speed with no lag.

Powered by HD Fuel technology, the D-Link HD Media Router 1000 prioritizes network traffic for high-bandwidth applications. HD Fuel enables consumers to watch Netflix and Vudu, play Wii or Xbox 360 online, or make Skype calls without having to worry about any of the skipping or latency issues faced by standard routers. The router automatically prioritizes bandwidth using QoS without any complex configuration.
The DIR-657 router offers industry-leading features like Web File Access, SharePort Plus, and more. Web File Access enables consumers to use a web browser to remotely access files stored on SD cards or USB storage drives plugged into the router. SharePort Plus enables easy sharing and synchronising of documents, media files and photographs in the USB storage devices or SD cards.
The in-built DLNA-certified media server means users can simply connect a USB hard drive via the embedded SharePort, and the router can stream music, movies and pictures to a compatible media player, such as a Boxee Box by D-Link, or even to multiple devices at the same time. The convenient SD card slot also allows users to insert a memory card straight out of their camera and then stream directly to a media player.
