Enriching Ramadan with technology: How smart speakers with AI enhance the Ramadan experience

Yango Group, a global tech company, has introduced a selection of new features for its AI assistant Yasmina, available in a suite of smart speakers.

The update for Ramadan 2025 features more than 30 new Quran reciter voices, Ramadan-specific content, and bedtime stories for children designed to bring families closer together during this holy month.

Enhanced Quran recitations

To enrich user experience during Ramadan 2025, Yasmina boasts a selection of over 30 distinct voices from some of the world’s most esteemed Quran reciters, including Mishary Rashid Al-Afasy, Abdul Basit Muhammad Abdul Samad, Yasir al-Dawsari and others.

Whether you wish to listen to the full Quran or a specific Surah, the smart bilingual AI assistant ensures seamless experience. To play a Surah, you can simply say, “Yasmina, play Surah At-Tawbah.”

Ramadan-specific content

During Ramadan, Yasmina offers special features designed to help users strengthen their faith. In addition to Quran recitations, the AI assistant can play Ayat Al-Siyam and daily Ramadan Duas in Arabic and English. To access these, users can say, “Yasmina, play Ramadan Dua” or “ياسمينة، شغلي أدعية رمضانية.”

Yasmina also offers daily tips to encourage mindfulness and well-being throughout Ramadan. These gentle reminders are aimed at fostering a deeper sense of reflection and positivity. To receive a daily tip, users can ask, “Yasmina, what is your Ramadan advice for today?” or “ياسمينة، أيش نصيحة رمضان لليوم؟”.

Prayer times and reminders

Yasmina smart speakers know the prayer times for any city in the world and can set prayer time reminders with a simple command like “Yasmina, remind me of Fajr today.” Available long before this Ramadan, these features take on special meaning during the holy month — a period of heightened devotion, fasting, and reflection.

Bedtime stories for children

Ramadan is a cherished time for families, and this year, smart speakers can create a little extra magic for the youngest family members. The smart assistant can offer bedtime stories in both Arabic and English. Parents can simply say, “ياسمينة، شغّلي قصص للنوم” or “Yasmina, play bedtime stories for children,” ensuring their kids drift off to sleep to tales that resonate culturally and linguistically. In English, Yasmina can play stories like Puss in Boots, while in Arabic, it offers tales from Shamandar, a popular children’s podcast brand.

Automatic device shutdown

For added convenience, users can request their smart speaker to turn off after a specified time period automatically. Whether playing supplications, stories, or Quran recitations, just say, “Yasmina, turn off the device after half an hour,” to enable this hands-free feature.

“Ramadan is a time for reflection, family, and community”, said Rami Abu Arja, Senior Innovation Marketing Manager at Yasmina, Yango Group Middle East. “As we embrace this holy month, Yasmina stands ready to ease the daily lives of families across the GCC with its intelligent and culturally aware features. Whether it’s helping adults deepen their spiritual practice or lulling children to sleep with bedtime stories, Yasmina is here to help”.

Yasmina is a culturally aware AI assistant that engages in intelligent, human-like conversations in both Arabic and English. Powered by a proprietary large language model (LLM), it assists users in decision-making, generating new ideas, and clarifying complex concepts. Yasmina is built into Yasmina smart speakers, including Yasmina Midi, Yasmina Mini, Yasmina Max, and Yasmina Lite.
